This has me scratching my head. You left the oil fields and your expectations were to at least make near similar of LTL?
The reason why the oil fields pay so well is because you are hauling a virtual free natural resource that is ejaculated out of the ground and you are getting a hefty cut of the transportation process.
I urge you to research what all is entailed with LTL. I got a feeling you might have some difficulties transitioning in. -
Why do I think it wasn't the "pay cut" that made you walk out on a drug test?
brtecson and Fuelinmyveins Thank this. -
Sure bud, I could ditch my LTL job right now and make money hand over fist in the Utica Shale. But money isn't everything. I enjoy sleeping in my bed everynight and having a life outside of and away from the big truck. And a true weekend off, not a 34-hour reset or stuck in some desolate man camp in the middle of nowhere. They're called "man camps" for a reason: there's no women there. No thanks, I spent my prime years running the road chasing the almighty buck. It's just not worth it. If I could roll back the clock and have another go, I'd do things alot different. You can theoretically make unlimited money in this lifetime but you'll NEVER get the time back that you wasted. And that's a lesson I learned the hard way.
TheyCallMeDave, MACK E-6 and Bob Dobalina Thank this. -
because you think he was snorting coke to make it through his 18 hour shifts.

I'll take "This Guy's Full Of ####" for 500, Alex.
ChaoSS Thanks this. -
I always do my figuring before jumping ship. Once I show up for the whiz quiz I consider myself already in the water.

Like I said I knew I would be taking a pay cut, just not that big of one.
Never messed with drugs, don't even drink alcohol,i've had my cdl and driven trucks for 23 years now,I'm not some yahoo I actually value my cdl,it's what has provided a nice living for my family. And to top it off they actually called me back and offered me a part time evening dock position allowing me to keep my current job and to decide later on if I want to go full time linehaul that is coming up,which I accepted. -
Wait...WHAT?!
-
Back to the oil fields and working the dock in your spare time. Now you'll be making a killing.
