Called on a load yesterday that was listed for 1100. I countered with 1500 because it was a short run but would take a full 12 hrs to complete with the appointment times. They said they couldn’t go that high and I said no problem and have a great day. They contact me 30 minutes later and offer 12 and I tell her the same thing, I would be at 15. She then tells me they have 1243.00 in it and they will give me 1240. I again said my rate was 1500 and she said she would pass. Again, I said no problem and have a great day. 2 hours later I see it posted for 1600, so I call her and said I will do it for their rate if 1600. After she knows that it was the same person she was emailing earlier she said she couldn’t pay me the 16 because I offered the 1500 earlier. She finally says she will ask her supervisor if they want to pay me the 1600 and she comes back and actually says “my supervisor said go ahead and pay you the 1600 but I’m only going to give you the 1500 because that’s what you offered earlier”. I told her to keep her load and she proceeded to tell me how that was bad business practice to offer a rate then not take it for that lower rate even though she declined it. Been bugging me ever since she said that. Was I really in the wrong?

    That's hilarious.

She had the nerve to tell you there was only $1,243 in it - then posts it for $1,600 - THEN gives YOU a lecture on business practice.

Yeah you were out of line, when it hit the board for 16 you should have asked for 1800.

"That wasn't me earlier. You must have me mixed up with someone who has no ethics."

Don't you love that "that's all we have in it" line all brokers use when they are ############ you.

She declined your offer of $1,500.
    You weren't unreasonable.

Hell no! Seriously, good to see you stand your ground, so many drivers don't do it. I've seen it time and time again. If she was a genuinely nice person, she would've called you back with $1500 instead of posting the higher rate. The fact of the matter is, she's scummy, and is the worst of the worse. She was probably hoping another driver would call so she could say, "Can you do it for $1400? I'm really desperate here." And some soft minded drivers would say, "Well, OK."

Dont u love it when the broker insults your "business practices" because u ask for a resonable rate and when they waste your time u ask for more...oh yeah thats such bad business... Obviously they are so used to dealing with drivers who bend over for them, that when u stand up for yourself and your company you are consider a bad businessman... Smh

Funny part is, she did me a favor by being a pain in the xxx. Just finished up a 1 pallet, 377 pound load that was 18 more loaded miles for 1800 and I was able to spend all night at home.
