Drivers aren't in high demand for good positions. The door to the mega's is always WIDE open, and they are always in need.

If I were a lawyer I'd rather prosecute than defend. The ticket is a giant mitigating factor.
But it is a rear end collision.
    Expect the unexpected.
    Leave yourself an out.
    Get the big picture.
    Space cushion.

I'm sure amongst the stack of papers you signed when you started with them there is something that says they can terminate you for any reason.

I was talking with a fedex local guy at a dock the other day, they do make some excellent money and it is hard to get on with them ( timing and luck is a big part ) but I've yet to talk to any driver that seemed happy. They all seem stressed.

The truth is harsh but correct.

People do stupid stuff around you, and you have to be prepared.

Last week a white haired lady came to a dead stop in one lane construction on a bridge. I had adequate stopping distance and was at a reduced speed.

Had it been another driver behind her, she may be dead right now.

Megas get rid of drivers all the time and unjustified. When it comes right down to it I don't think hiring and firing drivers is much of a concern to any companies.

I know a driver who hit a deer in PA
He stopped and called the cops
They came and gave him a ticket for hitting the deer.

I know it isn't but they insisted it was. The driver had a spotless record, moved up within the schedule and never ever caused an issue, even to this day, great driver. But FedEx didn't want the driver to be under the contract, and my hands were tied after the second attempt.

The only thing wrongful termination will do is get him unemployment unless he can prove he was terminated based on Race, Gender, National Origin, Creed, Age, or Sexual Orientation.

Unless under contract we are At Will Employees.

You will never see a fat Fedexer or a fat UPS man. Right? They stress so much... weight is a problem for some of them... so small, skin and bones.

You don't want to keep working for a company that will throw you under the bus when you did the right thing.
