My company doesn't pay for out of route miles for washouts. Cargil and Tyson might have washouts. JBS doesn't have a washout out in Greeley,Co. Tolleson, AZ, Grand Island, Ne or Plainwell, MI. Most of the washout places are not to far though. Only plants that have washouts for JBS is Louisville,Ky, Cactus, and Worthington,MN. Very few of our Pilgrims Chicken plants have washouts. Not sure if Hyrum, Utah allows common carriers to use the washout there.

I think this guy is more concerned with finding a washout after hauling meat. Of course unless you are back hauling more meat. We Haul Beef out to Georgia, and then Chicken out of Georgia for the most part and always have to find a blue beacon or truck wash on the way. I hate when there's a ton of trucks in front of you getting washed and its about to rain.

Ain't no feelin like reefer mobilin!!

I always get a wash out after a blood load, but my company pays me mileage for that. Blue Beacon has a smartphone app and http://www.poi-factory.com has the Beacons as well as many other useful truck points of interest for your GPS. I've also found truck washes with Google on the phone.

For other loads I carry a Ryobi cordless leaf blower instead of a broom. I can blow out a dirty trailer in less than 5 minutes and I've never had one rejected. Yes, I've resorted to dumping a gallon of water in the back for those PITA shippers.

There are actually many mobile wash companies out there, particularly in the bigger centers. That being said, most truck stops would hardly be impressed with people washing their trailer out onto their tarmac. Many of the larger centers normally have a Blue Beacon, but beyond that company, there are others. Sometimes simply by checking the yellow pages website along your route will identify other possibilities as there are other smaller companies out there that would love to have the business.

Husband had about 80 mi dh to swap a clean trailer with one that had been dropped without the washout recpt in it about a month ago. Some places are real strict on what they require.

Had that a couple months ago where the trailer required a "kosher" washout. This was arranged with a small company that turns out does a lot for the company I was picking up at. They primarily do tankers but do vans as well. Turns out a kosher washout is nothing more than a high temperature clean. That's the big thing with hauling foods is a clean, dry, odour free trailer is always specified (don't know why as this is always the case when hauling fresh foods)

Was sitting in south Texas (rode along with hubby in preparation for going back out on the road myself) after finally getting rid of a load of bulk spuds, and there are a couple of guys that cruise the parking lot of the Flying J in Edinburg with a pressure washer set up on their pickups. With all the produce that comes out of south Texas, they do a nice tidy bit of business. They pick up what they wash out of the trailer too, so no issues there.

Coffee grounds sprinkled in the trailer will help get rid of a lot of smells.

Got unloaded in Jessup MD this morning. Just had box beef on. So I swept the trailer out, but when I got to the shipper. They asked on the sign in sheet if I washed trailer out. I just put yes and they are loading it. So I lucked out on that one. I did see an advertisement for a washout as I was leaving the TA, but I was already running late for the pick up so. I'll definitely get a real washout next time. Didn't know there was a washout in the area. Now I know and knowing is half the battle GI Joe.
