I understand there are some companies out there which use monitoring devices and sensors. I think my company uses the hard braking sensor and the hard turn sensor (where you slow down too fast or take a turn too fast and the truck leans so many degrees). Other companies have fog line sensors which set off alarms if your tires kiss the fog line. Still others have sensors in the front bumper wherein if you get too close to the vehicle in front of you, the truck will brake down to a slower speed. This is a very small percentage of trucking companies who apply these technologies.

There are still plenty of aggressive truck driving tailgaters out there to give these video spies plenty of work.

 

Yeah... I have enough to do worrying and watching what I do...

 

My company has hired some company to do this too. I'm not very thrilled about it. Although it has made me more self-aware of what my following distance is and what it should be.

Some places it's just very difficult to maintain a good following distance because of cars always cutting in and out. (I-95 in CT comes to mind) I try though!

 

I certainly appreciate that statement and then seeing that you are only 23.That means that there is indeed hope for America. I had always just assumed that you young people were liberal in general. THANKS for making an ##### out of me on my thoughts.

 

I didn't see anything all that terrible, but only looked at like 5 or so b/fore i got bored

 

We as CDL holders are held to a higher standard than 4 wheelers. We know this, yet still we do dumb stuff. Some of what I see is NOTHING compared to what I've seen going on in the 4 wheelers out there. Make-up and hair studio on wheels? Library? Movie theater? Bedroom? (yeah, you know you've all seen bedroom behavior on the roads) Worse yet? I'm sure, but don't let anyone see US doing that, because then its an issue. Sometimes I wonder what this country is coming to, when I can't even drive without worrying about who's taping/monitoring me.

 

When I first started posting on this website it was on the subject of driving skills. I thought all the drivers were picking on me
But I soon realized that some of my driving habits weren't so safe after all-and thought all the other motorists were just ***holes. The natural tendency is to get defensive because we don't like to be criticized about our driving abilities. Had no clue it was even an issue and never knew how they felt about some of the stuff us four-wheelers do. And what opportunity would I have had to be informed of this had I not been on this site? If we can't allow lessons in our life, what good are we here? I appreciate the honesty and integrity of the truck drivers and their willingness to discuss these issues with us. It also gave me a clear understanding of the rigors they face in their occupation as well.

 

What a hypocrite, he's driving far more recklessly than anyone he's videotaping.
