But.
The diff lock you can engage and disengage as long as your wheels are freely rolling. If they found metal shavings that's because either you or who ever owned the truck before you was a noob. I had fear of engaging it and disengaging mine too for a while until I read the manual lol.

Oh get over it already. You made it to your destination, maybe 3 days later than everyone else... LOL, but you still made it. As for your comment earlier about knowing things that most old timers don't...
These old timers were doing this before you were a dribble in your dad's pants. They know a whole lot more than they let on and have probably forgotten more than you are likely to learn. There are also some things that old timers do not want to learn.
