I think all truckers should switch to using the MURS (Multi Use Radio Service) channels....its on VHF 151-154 mhz FM no license needed.... that would cut out the skip squatters ! how to go about getting that started .....I don't know, but it would be nice !!!

I had mentioned MURS on one of the GMRS threads, but it fell on deaf ears. You can generally talk farther on VHF than UHF (out in the open) without a repeater. Plus like you mentioned, no license needed on all frequencies. But do to lack of noise toys, it will never be popular with truckers.Vampire, Another Canadian driver and LRod Thank this. -
I think drivers will stick with AM much like pilots and ATC did, because of the characteristics. I wish it were different but I can't save the world lol

I was in eastern pa this morning and I could hear him clearly as if he was in the same lot. He was gone for a while but came back.
