Have the 2010 T660 with the old DPF. I'm interested in putting a short weedburner exhaust on it and removing the frame stack mount so I can put a tool box directly behind the sleeper.

Anyway, just doing some research, wondering if anyone knows of any issues with regen using the weedburner as opposed to the tall stack.

If there are no issues, what do you think if I were to go the ultimate cheap route and just go under there with my pea grinder with cutter blade and cut the exhaust pipe off into a tapered weedburner look? Or does it have to be a special ordered weedburner spark arrestor looking thing attached behind the DPF filter?

Well, I have an issue with folks who have weedburners who think that idling next to me all night at the truckstop is cool. Especially when their engine is in bad repair. If you don't have some sort of alternate way of heating/cooling/providing power, you may have a problem on your hands. Or upside your head.

    scottied67 Thanks this.

It is a Clean Air Idle truck, but that said is there an issue with using weedburners for the older DPF trucks? I see the new SCR trucks have the weedburners and no one would be the wiser.

I don't think there is any issue. Paccar built a lot of trucks of that type with weedburner exhausts.
Think of it as an exhaust line that is laying down, rather than making a 90 and standing up.

    kirk and scottied67 Thank this.

Saw a truck that looked like he was smokin' his brakes on a regular basis yesterday. Turns out it's an engine in need of serious repair and a weedburner exhaust. Sure hate to be parked next to that POS idling at the truckstop.

Go stainless. And keep your engine in good repair. Other than that shouldn't be any problem for reasonable people.

i'd like to know about this spark arrest. cuz all i see is a pipe with a bunch of holes pointing to the ground.

and one of these days. i'm taking that POS off and putting a stack on.

why the heck anyone wants a weedburner is beyond me. cuz it defetnily don't get better mileage.

The big issue I have with weed burners on dpf trucks is that the exhaust fumes get inside the truck. The clean idle ones may not smoke, but it stinks, and used to give me a headache. I would always have to park the truck facing towards the wind if I needed to idle that night. You also have to be cautious when you do a regen because it can cause a fire.
