No one is saying you don't deserve to earn a living, you just can't work for that company ... so what? Have you read many of the Werner threads here?

As long as you have a cdl, you can drive - maybe buy a truck?

I think most big companies will reject you because of insurance concerns tho.

With a stack of applications on the desk a foot high they can pretty much hire whoever they want! They can now say no tickets, writeups or log book violations lifetime ever and STILL get applicants! Besides you aparently haven't been keeping up with the "bad company" threads even if the CEO was on Dan's program!

I have never drank two beers and drove within an hour of doing so.

Perhaps I cheat because I've never drank beer, after the first sip I ever had I determined it has all the warm flavor of piss. That said, that doesn't excuse the actions of anyone so callous and selfish they would take other people's lives in their hands and get behind the wheel after drinking.

Sorry. I feel little sympathy. I am not perfect, but I have never done ANYTHING that would put other people in danger, and threaten my families well being for selfish reasons. And I am 26, I was 20 not but 6 years ago, and not all people who are 20 are so irresponsible that they would do something that reckless. Buzz driving IS drunk driving.

Using the 'I was a younger person' excuse is dumb, so if you murder someone at 20 we should look over it? Well mister, you could have easily committed vehicular manslaughter. As far as I am concerned its the same thing.

You also have to look at it from there point of view.

    1) There are over 200 applicants, 10% have DUI. Its an employers market right now, your SOL. You are the same way if you have drug, felony, so forth on your record trying to get a construction job.

    2) You increase their insurance, though at 25 years ago I am not sure that is true.

    3) You have a inherent risk of relapsing, especially under stress which beginning in the trucking career you are bound to have. In addition if you DO relapse and drive that truck intoxicated, the family that sues them is going to use that they knew you had a DUI before to nail them.

I am sorry you made a mistake 25 years ago, but you made it, live with it.

Yes you can. It's all about the all mighty dollar. You have to pay extra fees to get a piece of paper that basically says you'll behave while there.

i'm pretty sure that threatening to publish their response means you'll be waiting a long, long time for it.

even mom and pop operation wont touch you and that because the insurance. I seen one ad here saying that if it over 10 years old. They will talk to you about it if they like what they see on your resume.

25 years old now, I drink like a fish on hometime and yet I have NEVER drove after drinking.

    (1) I had family I could call if I needed to go somewhere, I might have to do them a favor later like buying them a soda but it's all good
    (2) friends who are the same way as family
    (3) Anything I thought I needed to do after I had had a few drinks could either wait, or I had already arranged how the situation would be handled later.

Sorry for your misfortune, but the "I was young and stupid" excuse is as bad as any other.

I think it's laughable that someone would fight to work for a CDL mill.

I have to agree with the consensus here, their truck their decision on who operates it.
