I went to a xxx xxx school where they had a recruiter from werner speak to us in st. Paul MN. He was a X army recruiter, so after I figured that out it had to be too good to be true. I really laid into him with questions and he stumbled hard, obviously they just say what you want to hear and know nothing else beyond that point technical wise.

After reading this, I am glad I bailed on Werner. I was getting screwed around for 4 days. Some people were at the motel waiting for a truck, some of them had been there over 2 weeks and getting paid $20 a day to sit in the motel. I had also heard stories of trainees having their trainer log them off and logging on themselves because they get paid more per mile if the trainer was logged in as the driver.

Just to show you how bright the people at Werner are, I was self employed before going with them and while I was at Werner they kept calling my home to verify my employment. They claimed that the reason for my hold up was verification of previous employment, and a drug test mix up at the lab which finaly came back that I had passed after 4 days.

It is unfortunately true everywhere, every fields, both industry and academia. Some newcomers are doomed to be bured as the price for the whole machine to run. Sadly, that is the truth. I am burned in another field and am looking into trucking, hoping not to be burned again.

Can a Werner driver get fired for getting sick while out, and then request to be sent home so he can go to his own doctor?????
Right now my husband is in Chicago and is very sick, and dispatch will not let him come home, He is afraid if he goes to a doctor in Chicago he may end up in the hospital, and is not sure what would happen to our dog that is with him.

I am shocked at your husbands experience with Werner ! I think sayimg they took advantage of a new inexperienced driver doesnt come close at all ! More like a nightmare ??? As a trucker of 25ys experience the one thing i NEVER do is call out tow trucks myself though, no matter what i would never do that because i might be saddled with paying for it. I would just bug the hell out of anyone i could call so they would call one out just to get me off the phone. in an ideal world you shouldnt have to do that but this world of trucking is far from ideal !
As for the room mate who had the TV on & phone calls, i would have asked once politely, twice not so politely (wont state what i would say it wouldnt get posted) 3rd time the blood teeth & snot would be flying ! I'm a mild mannered man & laid back EXCEPT when i'm tired then i'm Jekyl & Hyde & that a hole turning the TV on & taking calls in a shared room would have been in deep do do if it had been me.
I am shocked that an American trucking outfit treats its drivers in such a way ? I know some like myself who came to Canada from the UK who want to move there to drive but i think they should read about your husband before they make that move.
I hope your situation improves & your home is not put at risk ! Good Luck for the future !!!!

I wish this guy would come back and say how all this worked out. With all the documentation he had, he could at least get that tow bill handled.
I drive a day cab and if we are out of town and need a hotel, its our choice as long as its under a 100 bucks. Aint no sleepin' in a truck for this ol bird.

Het all I have had some health issues from the stree, I have tried to get another driving job but I get a bad refference from who knows where?? I turned my case over to the Minn. state Attorney General. Werner replaid saying we had no jurisdiction because it all happened across the country and not in Minn. So then we contacted the Nebraska Att. Gen. they refused to get involved. Then I hired a private att. and they came across many other cases that all dead end in Nebraska.... reason?? Werner licences all thier trucks and trailers there add up the fees and you see a whole lot of PROTECTION MONEY?? I did get most of the motel bills re paid but to little to late as our home is in foreclosre and we have nowhere to go. We enjoyed life until we got involved with Werner.
