I just got a brand new truck with a temporary registration. I rolled through an inspection station in Texas this week. The nice man in the very crisp uniform asked me where my license plate was. I politely explained that it was a brand new truck and that I had a temporary registration. He said, OK, but where is the temp tag? I said I'm sorry, I don't know. He asked where it was registered and then asked if Nebraska issues temp tags and I had to admit I didn't know. I felt pretty stupid, frankly. He waved me on after looking at the registration and I immediately called to find out what the deal is. Nebraska doesn't issue physical temp tags, fwiw.

There's no way my company would ever tell a driver to cover a wrong tag with cardboard. I know they're uptight about staying legal on everything, which is why I wasn't too worried, and which is also one of the reasons I like working for them. I wouldn't work for a company that tried that.

Arkansas just sends a 30 day temp cab card, no tag.
Usually 1-2 weeks you’ll have the tag and cab card for tag.
