No doubt. A trainer can definitely make the difference.. Back when I started driving in 2000, I had a trainer that had a temper.. I just tried my best to keep my mouth shut.

It blows me away the weak sauce I see in this industry . Is your trainer your daddy ? He's. Training you to make extra money on production . Period . If you don't like the converation ignore it like a grown person . If you had any sand you'd be shut of him and in your own ride right now . Not everyone hell mostly no one is meant to get along or click you need to learn to get a thicker skin and suck it up

Can't wait for the thread where he gets mad that he was canned for pulling his freight off a dock because the receiver was " unprofessional "

Western Express is what's known in the the trucking industry as a "mega company" like J.B Hunt, Swift, Schneider and Werner, Western Express hauls freight on volume, and they hire students. When huge trucking companies deal with the proverbial revolving door of turnover, then invariably the company won't really be too concerned about drivers as much as their freight. For every Western Express company, there are at least 10 really good quality companies out there. But they don't hire rookies. Once you've been in this business awhile and you understand the dynamics of how companies work, then you'll know which ones to stay away from.

    Good luck to you.

Especially when these same mega companies complain that their turnover is too high.... And then keep perpetuating that high turnover.

If there were real training standards, then these companies wouldn't be able to put rookies in charge of rookies. End of story. Some people entering this business might actually end up staying in it instead of being chewed up and spit out by these puppy mills disguised as trucking companies......

Doesn't sound too bad to me. Except the drinking and having bottles in the truck. Sounds like most mega company trainers to be quite honest. You should have called your DM and switched trainers.

I guess there are no certain credentials for being a trainer at Western - x or ANY mega fleet

.... And our government wonders why we can't have safer highways or why the trucking industry is going down the flusher

.... You guys shouldn't be ragging on this driver, he probably just expected alittle more integrity

Atleast his trainer didn't poop his pants he just got drunk in the truck which is not a good training tactic
