It's was in the teens last night but the water temp stayed around 200 and oil temp was about 150. If I close the a winter front all the way, with no openings; will the fan still prevent an over heat situation when it comes on?

I'm spoiled. Idling is a must when it's too hot/cold outside.

What is it?

The fan will keep it cool. On my old 386 Pete the grill would get plugged with ice and would heat up fast going down the road but as soon as the fan kicked on it cooled it down real quick. If anything, it might cycle more frequently

This MP8 I run puts a 25% load on itself after about 10 mins of idling. It'll spool the turbo to 5 psi and the oil pressure climbs to 50. Weird but smartBrettj3876 Thanks this.

There was a thread on here a while back calling some of us stupid for bumping rpms to 1,000 when idling. I've wasted a lot of fuel idling but I've never froze, burnt up or seen any wet stacking. My gut instinct was always that higher rpms and oil pressure can't be bad if you have to idle.

I would think you should be fine.. I run my winter front about half closed and set my idle at about 1000 rpms and get along good when its in the teens if get gets to zero I button it up tight and never worry about it sometimes the fan will kick on .. but I never worried about it I guessOxbow and ProfessionalNoticer Thank this.
