Have not used my CDL in almost four years, so it is actually a little tough finding someone to take me on. There is a company that is willing to hire me, and their application descriptions state that the driver may be responsible for the deductible if you are in an at fault accident. They also want the driver to pay $50 a week, up to $1000 for safety and equipment should the driver be dismissed or leave the company and there be anything wrong with the truck. The money is then refunded after 45 days. That is the first time I have heard of a company doing this. I would not even know what a deductible cost would be if that was to happen.
Anyone else work with a company that does this? What is your take on it?
What are your thoughts on this...

This is normal. It's called escrow. If you have a job lined up, congrats!

Sounds like a 1099 company.
Plenty of companies will hire you without all that garbage.
Drivers come on the forum every week complaining the company kept all the escrow money and then charged them more money, like not getting their last paycheck.Last edited: Oct 14, 2022
