I work in concrete as a pump operator and crane operator with a flatbed. I use Ariat work boots. Steel toe, waterproof, oil and slip resistant, ect. They are a tough boot and I’ve had them for almost 3 years, most boots don’t last 6 months in my line of work. They are comfortable and affordable. My feet stay dry l, (I don’t even worry about 8 inches of water) I get good traction especially when climbing down from my crane onto the steel deck when it’s covered in ice. A lot of guys I work with use military boots and swear by them as well, but I don’t like all the laces I’m too lazy to tie and untie. Easier to slip them on and off.

Red wings goes by numbers. I wear the 2408’s. IIRC, @johndeere4020 wears the 2233’s. That’s a good way to find the same boots again if you like the ones you’re wearing.

I picked up a pair of avenger 7876s the other day. So far so good. I like them alot better than my John Deere boots I wore before. Way more comfortable and actually waterproof.

I stopped by my local Red Wing the other day and bought my first pair of real boots. $185 dollars and worth every penny. I thought I knew what a good boot was like but in reality I didn’t. These passed the fuel island test, they grip like velcro even inside the store on the linoleum floor. Also, hit some snow in Iowa last night and after walking around my truck this morning in knee deep snow.....feet are bone dry. Wish I hadn’t of waited so long to buy a pair of real work boots.

Also have to say that Red Wing has fantastic customer service. I was literally catered to while inside. She had my try on three different sizes until I found the right one. She knew their product line like the back of her hand. They also have a 30 day return policy....wear em, use em and bring them back if you aren’t satisfied.

I wore redwings everyday for years. My company gave $100 a year towards boots so pretty soon I had a pile of them.

Then one day they discontinued the model. I tried every single pair and none were as comfortable. 8 years later I tried all the redwing models and again was disappointed.

Ariat for me from now on. Only thing I hate is not made in USA. I might try keen later.

For the love of Allah... but seriously, combat boots are crap and I've put thousands of miles in them. The only good thing about them, is they work. It's like owning a Ford.
Sure you can, but why would you? There are better things out there...
