I don't see this happening. What I actually see happening with the routine use of instant communications today is ALL logging took away from the driver both OTR and local. It is going to require removing some of the HOS regulations AND there is going to have to be a way for the states to monitor this. In fact In 50 to 100 years I see most trucks on something more like rails beside a road going in both directions being monitored by someone in a control room. However for most of today's drivers lifetimes I don't see that local radius rule removed.

the other 3 hours are quite simply to allow you to have a break, fuel, check and secure your load, bottom line is you have 11 hours of driving to do in a 14 hour window. Once either your 11 or you 14 are up you should be off the road doing what ever you please, i just loved to relax by sitting down enjoying a nice cooked meal followed by a hot shower and off to bed and up early at 5am the next morning when all the other amateurs were still sleeping.

Company driver. Exactly what I expected. Well, OOs have health insurance too. Enjoy your $200 11 hour day and health insurance while we make well over that in a fraction of the time.

I check my truck and eat, shower, then sleep. I get five hour of sleep so I can enjoy life more. No way I'm sleeping for 10 hours

Hopefully once you hit that 11 you don't hit something like this!

And spend most of that extra on fuel, repairs, insurance (both vehicle and health), a reserve fund for down time and vacation, plus self employment taxes...thanks, I'll stay a company driver with my cheaper health insurance, paid vacations, paid breakdown (or the option of switching to another truck on long term breakdowns), paid tolls and prepass... and by the way, what experienced driver works 11 hrs for $200/day?...that's so last decade.

Speak for yourself. Comparing what I do now with what I got as a company guy isn't even in the same ballpark. Sounds like you're just not cut out for running your own business. Sorry about your luck. Enjoy your orders!
