Maybe so. I'm not gonna be running myself ragged, just trying to make it through life. If I can make 1200.00 per week for 3 years and all I have at the end of it is a truck that's mine and a little in the bank, then I'm happy with that. It's not failing, just not what you or others make.
What do you think?

Well you can do a lot better, dont settle for 1200 after everything is said and done, after 3 years of running you will have a truck that will need lots of repairs and no money to do so.
-
Preventative maintenance will run you around $200/month (or less if you do it yourself).
You need to also set aside an amount for repairs. Even with a warranty, not everything will be covered, but more importantly, how are you going to make the truck payment while the truck is in the shop with no revenue? (hint: repair money you set aside).
What happens if after a year, the company goes belly up or you decide you don't like working with them anymore?
Two tips to making money in this business is 1) keep the left door closed 2) run the shortest amount of miles for the most amount of money. At $.90+FSC you will be running a lot of miles for not alot of money. -
Okay. So where's a good place to lease onto in the Midwest?
Also, my figures are low, low estimates. I also have the opportunity to go back to hauling containers with my previous employer. 1.00+FCS. The good thing about that is that 50% of the miles are empty, and they pay the same as loaded. With and empty container, a 13speed and 2.93's, I should be able to pull some pretty good MPG's across Illinois and Indiana which is the main place I'd be running to. -
2 weeks ago i got the #'s from the L/O mgr. from the co. i drive for and as i suspected it was'nt great nor was it all that bad.
but he did the break down on cost's and expense's on a worksheet and in the end a l/o would make just a little more pulling their trl. than a co. driver makes and the l/o prays he has no problem's with the tractor. -
So, if I could jump in, is $1.75 a running mile by PC Miler a decent enough buck as an o/o?
Trying to figure out whether it is or not. Looks pretty good on paper, but real world and paper seem to be 2 different things.
