Did you contact Maverick? I'm thinking I've read on here they don't require a school diploma just that you have a CDL. I may be wrong but give them a call you're not out anything. Does Jeff Foster or Halvor pull flats if that's what you want to do?

The trucking companies are gaining control, that's what.

They don't want old truckers who are set in their ways. They don't really want new truckers either and they turn them over quickly. And what comes from it is, trucking companies tell their customers there is a driver shortage and can charge whatever they want to transport freight, an artificial situation they will maintain until a light shines on it.

And Independents will not survive with regulations from FMCSA and EPA bearing down on them.

every body just needs to sit tight. it's going to get worse. but not for long. obama is going to get impeeched. his health care plan is not going to make the 2014 start up. congress along with several other parts politics. are pisted at the fmcsa. the fmcsa were listening to a person that had no idea and had no proof or any reason for advising the fmcsa on the changes. that came out in court. so the fmcsa is in boiling hot water with dc. so I figure by the end of 2014. cogress will force the fmcsa to go back the the original regulations the came into effect in 2003. so sit tight for a while.

Everyone lines their pockets this way. Not only insurance premiums decreased, trucking companies don't have to pay a new driver squat, because they know a new driver understands that experience is more important than how much they make for at least 6 months - 1 year. The trucking schools build relationships($$$$$) with certain companies, offering guaranteed job placement once you graduate school. I agree it's not fair and not right to someone that is probably a really good driver like yourself.

A couple of things...Oprah was in Switzerland , not Sweden. Also, the clerk in question was new and from Italy. The store claims that it was a language comprehension issue. I am not saying that it wasn't discrimination, just that there's more to the story than is being posted here.

The media has society hypnotized. Just like swift and knight have drivers hypnotized at 62mph and they have to send a mac66 for permission to eat and a mac67 permission to drink a soda.

College degree no longer means anything, unless it's from stanford or yale or some other major school. As we all know only a blind horse can't graduate from your friendly community college (a place where people hang out to ...not work and live with parents or on government grants) or phoenix or devry online. all you need to get bachelors from them is cash, computer access with working e-mail and google search and 1-2 hours of time every other day. there is no value in college degree any more, they give no competitive edge as most people can get them easily.
i don't believe, trucking is going that way. for pretty much any position in industry one just have to have high school diploma and training. even training can be provided by employer, so... not there yet.

Agreed, the new mandatory formal CDL school is stupid. But, that's just someone going cya and getting votes for care bout public safety.
You immigrants rant is inappropriate unless you yourself belong to one of the tribes. If you are a native american, then I take all I have to say on the matter back and..sorry for stealing your land! :biggrin_25514:Otherwise.. I have friends who came from other countries, yes, yes, mexico included. They speak English, one speaks 3 languages besides his native, clearly and fluently. ability to communicate in english is mandatory for any cdl holder and is enforced. there are serious points for not being able to speak. by the way, they do have trucks in mexico and mexicans do drive them last time i checked, so, please, don't insult people just because your ancestors made it here a bit faster then their families.
As for your studies, I didn't know there are degrees to be learned by mechanics. Is there really a phd for that?!:biggrin_25512:
