Lmao!! You pulled that out of your ### didn’t ya. Manual transmission is not more money as an option. Is and always will be cheaper. Look what a brand new eaton 18 speed cost versus an automatic

When you buy 1 truck, perhaps. When you buy a large number of units at a time, they make deals and the price per unit goes down. Besides, it not my choice, I work for a small company that runs an all AMT fleet. I'm here for the money, not the equipment. If they didn't pay this good, I would be working for a company with a manual because I hate AMTs. But those kind of companies are getting harder and harder to find.

Our new 12 speed Endurants have a top gear that has engine running at around 1150 at the 68 mph we’re governed at. If it were up to me those would be swapped out so it would turn the 1300 rpm the two little pretty green lights on the tachometer indicate.spyder7723 Thanks this.

It does when it becomes a crutch.
Are you also of the opinion that you can still drive a modern truck with the power steering out of commission? Try that once and see how it works.
Technology is killing us. Today’s driver would be exerted to the point of a heart attack if he had to drive a truck with armstrong steering.
Right, and instead today we have fat slobs who defecate in broad daylight behind their trucks followed by urinating between the drive tires competing for the closest parking space to the door because of what an apocalyptic level tragedy it would be to have to waddle an extra 10 feet.
Hooray for progress!!

People sounds like technology and auto shift transmissions are bad. You could go back in time and say the same thing about all kinds of things. Why do we need cars all you need is a horse and buggy. The Amish still is that today, why do people need gas lawnmowers. They did with hand push mowers in the past.
Pick anything you want they did it all with a lot more work needed to get the job done. Would anyone today spend months walking and riding cross country in a wagon train ? No, you would use technology and drive it in a couple days. Just like new drivers today will learn and use auto shift transmission. They will be the new normal. -
Ever notice when they show pictures of the old time truck drivers...from the days of no power steering, stick transmissions, no air conditioning, canvass tarps etc...that you very seldom see a fat guy?Gearjammin' Penguin, InTooDeep, MACK E-6 and 6 others Thank this.

Not just drivers, that’s pretty much everyone. Because people were active.PoleCrusher Thanks this.

There's a good chance you're less of a man. Those autos were ordered so they could put women and a certain breed of cheap driver in the seat.
It also makes that button pushing moron less of a truck driver because he's a useless, brain dead, can't back, up can't park, can't trip plan, can't limp home, can't change a light bulb, one step away from a robot steering wheel holder. Here's another stat: 94% of truck drivers are morons
If you like an auto it's because you can shift while holding your cancer stick and a super big gulp at the same timeLast edited: Feb 10, 2019

It took a while but I love my auto shift.

that really is the main reason they're making 90% autos...
i always thought the biggest reasons for switching to autos was to save on fuel, which never made sense when you take into account the maintenance costs..
the next step after autos is driver-less. hope everyone realizes that
