Well.
Not in pain right now.
The other tooth that was cracked from inside just broke rest of way off.

Guess I can eat something now, threw rest of sandwich away earlier.

Card thing dings and he hands me my items and I say "thank you sir!".

" don't call me sir, I prefer they/them"

" ok, thank you them"

I hate to laugh at it , but it sounded so stupid when I said it outloud, I couldn't help myself but smile. And he looked even more offended than when he was a sir.

I walk back to my truck questioning the English language. If I see a guy I say sir if I see a woman I replace sir with ma'am... now I will have to add they/them to my vocabulary and come up with a grammaticaly correct phrase for saying thank you to them.

Nah, just reply to him with: Well, My preference is to call you sir. It's known as free speech.

I suggested that back in 57 but they went one better... Built the interstates. Some day; time and inclination permitting, find an old stretch of US 80 just for nostalgia. run it back to an on ramp...

@4mer trucker I started driving in July of '05.

I think that's about 17 years.

I remember driving through that construction zone on I-78.

It looks like they might be about half way done.

You know it only took 5 years to build Hoover Dam.

Used to go over it a lot. Wasn't bad except it could get backed up on the weekends. When coming down the Nevada side, you would get on the CB and say something like "Southbound coming into the Nevada hairpin" and the Northbounders would wait until you cleared. And vice versa. Later they widened the curve and made it easier on everyone.

Yeah that horse shoe on the west side could get rather interesting if you weren't on the radio. Definitely a spot that everything went better with communication.
