Was told many years ago that the cheapest maintenance on any engine with spark plugs was to screw in a new set every 15K. Sound logic, considering the low cost of doing it back then.

One of the dispatcher/load planner responsibilities at your previous gigs was to only send a truck that has what is needed to do the job.
Some of doing a good job is reading the load info to make sure you have the correct equipment on the truck.
Things like cutters for bolts and seals.
Will the shipper supply hazmat placards or do some need to be acquired en-route.
Before signing up for a tailgate load is there a pallet jack or hand truck on your truck or will a recovery strap to pull them back be sufficient?
Do you have load locks or load bars if those are needed or requested?
Do you have blankets enough for a blanket wrap load?
If they are going to insist on putting down blocking, do you have a pry bar to remove the blocking?Dale thompson, 77fib77, dwells40 and 13 others Thank this. -

I found a video on youtube on Landstar about the loadboard. Said it was posted a month ago, but the fuel prices were like 2 plus a gallon around Rockford, Illinois. LOL. Took a closer look, it was made in December 2020. What a major change it's been since 2020/21. There was a lot of good info on their about things like the fuel finder and such, but the freight rates and the amount of loads are probably way off. I did a search for van freight around fort worth and there were 5 loads. His search for that time in 2020 showed 31 loads for the next 2 days. Mine was a 1 week search.
Thanks again. I'm probably going next weeks sometime so I'll actually have an inside view of this process. I'm sure I'll be full of questions after that. 2 day orientation is the shortest truck orientation I've ever attended.Dale thompson, Feedman, BennysPennys and 7 others Thank this. -
And you just know that everyone who works in the cave is thinking, "If there's a nuclear war, this is where I'm going to ride it out!"
