For removing a battery, disconnect the negative first, then the positive. On install reverse the process.
By taking the negative first, you are breaking the circuit. The battery is no longer grounded to the vehicle chassis. This prevents potential short if any tools should touch metal, removing the positive connection. Reversing this on the installation is basically working the same way. The circuit is open until the negative connection is restored. Less likely to spark making the connections as well.austinmike, homeskillet, Sons Hero and 7 others Thank this. -
