Got a bill in from dad’s cancer dr from his appointment in May.
His part was $35, I called to pay, they wanted to k ow what date it was when I called and told them he died. I told them, they said don’t worry about it, she’d take care of it..
I’d just as soon paid to be sure it’s taken care of, he always paid his bills and is it wrong that I want to make sure everything is paid so no one can say how sorry one was for not taking care of their debts… or is it just me being me…?

 

It is fairly common in some situations when the patient passes away. I had a similar experience when my wife passed away in 2011.
I think they file insurance and Medicare/Medicaid/VA or whatever is the coverage and discount the rest to close the account out.
You followed up, offered, and they were accepting of the situation. No need to dwell on it.
There may be other small things that will appear, usually automatic prescription refills not stopped...I'd check with his drug source.

 

only thing recurring is his cell phone and insurance on vehicles.
I was paying that anyways, haven’t changed it yet, but I am on his account so it doesn’t really matter.
I’m probably gonna keep his phone active for a bit, incase one of the sisters call it, they had his number not mine.
