Yeah, I always put my phone on DND when I sleep, but I had the company as a starred contact and it rang through the first time she called me when I was asleep. So I fixed that and told the missus (the only other starred contact) about the change. Sure enough, same girl called yesterday while I was asleep. This time she left a voice mail and sent a message.

I can gut it out for another week and then I will be done with my obligation for a year. I may talk to the assistant site manager and show her the evidence. She was a dispatcher when I used to work out of here and we always got along. I don't know the new site manager so I don't think I'll approach him about it. I had one conversation with him last summer when I did my week and it wasn't pleasant.

 

Y'all take a look at @singlescrewshaker post #220576, where he points out his feelings for "Peaches".
Helps round out my trying to express our "respect" for some of the old "arn" that we depended on and that never "failed ' us.
Had to give them a little boost or rejuve with some shop rest, but.. Back out and grinding them out again.
There was a similar affection then for the WC22 Whites and it seems like for some of the FLD's.

 

Yeah, I'm calmed down. I don't think I'll leave. They're actually a very good company, and I've already stayed here longer than any other job I've had in 50 years. I like to imagine that I'll be able to retire in the next few years, so why quit now? I just like to complain sometimes. Thank you all for your emotional labor though.

 

It's a real sad song, like the AI slop that modern country has turned into, with a dude in a cowboy hat wearing tight cutoffs driving his pickup truck through a small town with his dog on the way to his farm while he's drinking a beer and missing his girl.

 

Think he is with Crete, running Walmart. Lotta stop and go/zig and zag Walmart work but Crete pay and (lack of) direction.

If this was during one of the 2 week helping out times, I would be tempted to just put the phone in do not disturb mode, After double checking that the nap plan was solid.

If you need something to throw in there face. I think there may be something in the Regs around driver coercion if forcing/suggesting you drive while tired. May be appropriate to get the safety department involved to pimp slap the dispatcher back into line.

If they will not respect your professionalism and are going to run you like a rented mule, then they need to learn to expect a kick to the crotch once in a while.
