The wife used to make good money with a caroling group. Would walk around malls or parties in costume singing away.

Funny thing was the core group was a pagan, a jew, and a gay guy singing base........

Made it home in 3 1/2hrs. Pulled a 65mph average.

Dispatcher called me back about 30min before I got home. He checked the shippers internal load board and we have atleast 10 trailers that didn't get loaded. No calls, emails nothing as to why. He cleared me out on the load so I'll either run some short haul stuff tomorrow and tues. Or I'll stay home till after xmas.

####!! That is some good stuff right there i got held up in some thick ice fog all the way thru kansas. And my other antenna was sacrificed in the process. Fell apart when i got on the breaks to stop at the stoplight. Looks like 2 cb antennas is my xmas present lol plus i went around the 35 toll road from wichita to kansas city . wanted to get further than where i am but i think i will be able to get it done. If not oh well i gonna enjoy a hotel room and some good dinner either way

    Speaking of working.

This last ordeal got me thinking about per diem. Im trying to figure out how to approach my boss about paying me a per diem every day Im in the truck. Its tax deductible for the co and the extra $ would obviously benefit me.

I dont want it to come across as a "I deserve more $" type thing, but lots of other industries pay a per diem. Im looking at it as a way to cover expenses while on the road so that my paycheck pays the bills at home and allows me to provide more for my family.

We just pay our drivers part of their pay as per diem. We both save on taxes, and it’s no big deal for payroll. One guy has four kids, and it keeps him low enough that he pays very little in health insurance, as well. That alone is worth about 10K per year.

Yea including it as part of their pay just seems like it screws the driver. As a W2 employee we see no tax benefit anymore. Every other industry pays per diem in addition to a regular base pay.

Im on percentage so figuring it into my base pay wouldn't work. It was tax deductible upto $67/day this year I believe.
