I have the dewalt 12 slider, also a Bosch 10 for smaller stuff. The 12 is a great tool, it’s just a bit of a pig to get it around sometimes, it’s heavy. But it will cut 2 by 12 on an angle one pass. No flipping.

We had several 10 inch, 1 slider, 2 or 3 chop saws. The 1 10” chop saw has cut millions of boards, it was our most heavily used for about 15 years. Probably 20 years old and still works great! Also had a Makita 12” sliding compound, heavy as a dead priest. Was a decent unit, motor wore out/got weak though. Haven’t burnt a Dewalt saw up yet. Ditto about cutting the fence on a Dewalt though. I would build my own saw table before I would buy one that the saw clips onto. If you’re cutting 4 x 6s, or 2 x 12 on that pop-up table that Dewalt offers, expect to bend the legs, and have the stupid thing rocking around like a ship in high seas. #notafan

I hold the dewalt battery tools in the same opinion, I prefer the Bosch personally, I find the batteries to be much better. Have lasted ten years before replacing the hammer drill, driver set. And that was more of a replacement to get some fresh batteries with the tools, have never had any issues with their stuff. I personally wouldn’t get a battery powered circular saw though, just don’t have the oomph of the corded ones for getting through knots or going on angles ( have one, never really use it)

Agreed, those bigger pieces, especially with a cut right on the end of a longer piece can be a problem. Usually will slide it through and use it as a work station for a circular saw cut on the bigger lumber. I think I may have the old makita miter saw ( realized no, mine is not a slider) you are talking about as well. Ended up putting a metal cutting blade in it and use it for that. It’s stupid heavy for a small tool! I cheat on on the 4 by 10’s and twelves, I use the husqvarna chainsaw. Much quicker, just be careful to stay on the lines. Have made stringers in a pinch with the chainsaw. The stand is helpful for me, am always going somewhere different with it. By the time I load the chop saw, table saw with stand, and planer, the room in the back of the pickup is gone

Thank you for motivating me to wipe down the interior of my truck, including the entire dash. I've been meaning to do it for a while, but this made me break out the bleach wipes while I'm getting loaded at the Grange. (Chicken feed, btw, so there will be a fresh supply for you by the time you get back to the Casa del OM.)
