Both police cars were seen outside of Emery's Rexall Drugs investigating a report of a theft. Mr. Emery told both officers that he was in the back of the store mixing a jar of bunion cream for Widow Kemp when he heard a noise in the front of the store. When he went to investigate, he observed two unidentified youths fleeing the store. A cursory inventory revealed that the youths apparently absconded with 48 Atomic Fire Balls, 12 boxes of Boston Baked Beans, and an undetermined quantity of Bazooka Bubble Gum. The alleged thieves were described as "probably Joe Ben O'Brien and that no-good cousin of his with the stupid-looking haircut".

Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to contact the city police and ask for Constable Joe, Constable Bob, or Detective Sergeant Joe Bob.


This morning at least one officer was summoned to the house of Bobby Joe Bobb. Mister Bobb reported that vandals had attacked his recently completed picket fence in front of his property, allegedly removing all the posts from the ground and resetting them square and plumb, then reattached the pickets with equal height and spacing.

Mr. Bobb requested a police report but declined to press charges.......
