Trucking nowadays gives people a fake sensation of freedom...
I remember when I started trucking for a mega in 2008 doing a Walmart dedicated... at least then, I could leave the empty trailer at WM DC and bobtail to anywhere for my 34 or a long break... I was on paper log...
I visited lots of interesting places.... beaches, parks, towns... would go anywhere I felt like and that gave me some sense of freedom... Here are 2 old pictures... One was at Red Top Mountain in GA....

Other was at Woodland Beach in DE...

But after elog.. all that changed... I started to feel more and more like a prisoner in the truck... :angry2:
Couldn't do much anything I wanted any more... even go to a post office or a bank was very difficult...
And had to spend all my 34 in the truck at a truck stop....

A couple of months into team driving I realized how closely the sleeper resembled a cell in Alcatraz...... except the cell had a commode.

Yours does to, do like that guy pulling the csx container, park infront of everyone, stand on the top step and do your business, get back in truck, no mess on your shoes

More challenging to not get messy when the teammate is driving across WY in the winter.

Even though I liked living in the truck cause I love the road... the lack of freedom and being confined in a small space day after day for years and the crazy routine or lack thereof like not being able to eat and sleep right and lack of exercising damaged my health...
I may never be an owner operator cause I don't think I have what it takes to succeed and I don't like the path the trucking industry is taking...
I think the best way to make money driving a truck is doing what I did for 11 yrs... Living in the truck, cooking in the truck, saving rent and utilities... going to a cheap hotel 4 or 5 times a year and running like a mad dog constantly... That's what I did for 11 yrs.... And I made good money. :biggrin_25519:
But I may never make that much again... :biggrin_2557: Cause I can't do that again... not like that...
If I still go back in a truck, will have to slow down... way down... not even sure if anybody will want me... my good "glorious" years of OTR hard runner are gone in the dust... :Road:

Dont work for terrible companies that dont treat you like a human. I can bobtail and use personal conveyance any time I want. If I can borrow a dry van this weekend I'm gonna use it to move all my stuff in a storage unit to my house.

I teamed on my first 6 months cause it was mandatory in that company... Thought that would help me but after 2 weeks I realized I would be better off on my own... But decided to bite the bullet and stick with the company till the end... Had 7 partners in 6 months.... :biggrin_25521:
For my benefit, I met a Brazilian trainer at that company the day I graduated... and he helped me TREMENDOUSLY during my teaming... I owe him that.... We would call each other any time, night and or day and vent.... He gave me strength and hope to move on and get done with it... :biggrin_25519:
But I swear that NEVER EVER AGAIN I will team...
