when driving on snow/ice at highway speed: No you can't touch the brakes, No you can't suddenly let completely off the throttle. Unless you want to jack knife, you have to plan way ahead if you want to stop. l have seen a driver speed up going down hill then spin out on the next hill only to have the momentum of the trailer push him into a jack knife. Then after you learn how to drive in those conditions, your biggest problem is the inexperienced driver(s) who jack knife and get into and cause accidents directly in your path. l do have one more tip for when you are chained up and traction is poor. l take off my right boot. Now l can feel when traction is about to slip and let up just a little and keep it moving. This worked well over 30 years and never jack knifed. l could/did hang 4 singles in less than 30 minutes.

Indiana got changed then. CA,NC,RI don't matter cause they aren't dead set on the 12K steer axle rating. And if your steer is at a 12K rating, and you're over, apu exemption or not, you got some 'splanin to do.

WesternPlains, Rocks and D.Tibbitt Thank this.

Troy is about to get raped.

And the Volvo I used to run, I don't think the steer axle was ever under 12K
