This may not have been smart. I always kept a spare key tied under my hood to something with a plastic wire tie. I also kept one in my pocket. In fact, I never really took my key out of the ignition switch.

I keep a spare in my wallet. As my hand is on my wallet in busy areas. I have felt a pick pocket try to bump me and dislodge my hand, and his fingers trying to get in my pocket. I just laughed. He looked like a Neil Diamond in a plaid shirt.

I have lost a chemical glove that rides behind the seat.
All I ever used that pair for was fueling. Now I got one left glove, but I am right handed.
Also lost a maglight flashlight.. the big one that took 4 D batteries, it had none in it for a year, kept forgetting them, put batteries in it and within a week its gone.
Several pens.. fail on the builder who left a tiny spot big enough for a pen from behind steering wheel into the dash.

Always great after you park around midnight an doing paperwork to relax, then someone lays on the horn, then after jumping and looking around, its your clipboard laying on the steering wheel blaring away with the horn.

I am missing my stapler too..
