Could be. I got the info on the " grenading" of said pump as well. If a plunger breakers, it basically contaminates the fuel system - rail, injectors. It doesn't go into the engine. That's when the gear / cam assembly on the pump breaks. That is the more F situation.

Dude is cautious about the plunger situation, cause he said one can break and it will still keep going.

Mine was part of the ceramic pump recall that got cancelled.

Actually the Cummins place down by you was the one that figured out the fuel pump actuator was bad.

Originally stopped at the one in Mesa. They took a look at it for free to confirm no catastrophic codes, and told me to take it to Avondale cause they had Techs more experienced with that motor.

I liked that Avondale were up front and said it would take a couple of days to get to look at it. After confirming it was part of the recall, they suggested I just rent a car and head for home, because the parts for the recall were 3 to 6 months out. And they had 3 other trucks ahead of mine waiting for those parts.

Got a call 2 days later (Thursday) that it was the actuator. Monday got the call to come get my junk. All in all a descent experience for a corp shop.

Mine was part of the recall as well, but didn't qualify. I called Freightliner of the Northwest where it came from. They refitted thousands of them, but there was something that made them good or bad. But mine was deemed ok, so didn't get the new head.

I want to go where the money is. I don’t care where, or if there’s girls in bikinis tossing brown sugar pop tarts at me.

    On second thought... :D
