Guess I'll bring the subject up.... All this lock down stuff is to protect people with "compromised immune systems".

They closed the schools to keep the kids from getting infected and bring it home to share with the family (think grandparents).

Probably a good call...... would keep the kids from being accused of killing their grandparents.

    other side of the coin.....

I would be alright with loosing a bunch of the at risk people. Clearing out some of the ranks of upper-management and senior employees I think would be good for the economy and help bring new life into those corporation. Also it would give hope to younger management types that are stuck waiting for the old farts to move on. It's part of the circle of life that our society has warped too long by allowing folks to stay beyond on appropriate retirement age.

I am to the point I would prefer to just get exposed and battle it out rather than be in lock down for a year or 2 till "they" get together a vaccine.

I feel the nursing homes were infected by children as carriers and so on. The children being powerful strong in immune systems. I don't blame the children. Thats not what I am saying. Our USA was just too distracted by other problems to worry or do anything soon enough to matter.

Our Governor just now issued a ban on travelers in our state from staying at our hotels etc. If you are not here on Business and just playing at traveling you aint going to find a place to rent a room and be on your way out of state. we found out that we are being abused by New Orleans people coming here to work around Texas and other blocks as well as abuse our open policy.

I might have agreed with you when I was 35, but now that I am 70 I sure don't.

    That thought crossed my mind.

Frankly when I die at whatever age it will be a form of celebration to discard this painful body for a new one. I don't go looking for death. But I know I wont want to be 70 either. Not with that.

As a 56 year old punk kid I can understand and accept that.

If you choose to lock yourself away to protect yourself I would whole heartily support you in any way appropriate.

I see a wide spread quarantine as penalizing the many for the benefit of a small percentage of the population.

My opinion is we would do better to give real guidance to the population like: wash your hands, put something on your face to remind yourself not to touch your face (bandanas and dust masks will work), disinfect common surfaces regularly, and mostly support the folks that are staying home because they have concerns that this virus will kill them.

We are in a interesting position. There are apparently 8 or nine states staying open for a variety of good reasons. The way we are beginning to be treated or rather dissed at the federal level or from other states nosing in is not welcome.

The people here are being very good for the most part. Except the fumbling at walmart herding everyone at the door in a packed crowd for a hour.... every hour... see how they like their new policies. UGH. They fat fingered that one for sure.

I am past 50 long ago myself but I am such a kid. That can be a good thing, or a bad thing. I don't know it depends on the situation. Im thankful I am not all pruned and squeezed out like so many...

Now it’s the grandparents that’s raising the kids that want to do the killing after being locked up with disobedient kids for 30+ days

If I thought for one minute anyone trustworthy would adopt them and not bring them back, I'd probably try it. Nobody would keep them though. They eat too much.

As for the other, thank you very much for the advice. My palate doesn't match the three females in the house and I'm not cooking just for the boy and I. Lol. Surely you understand.

The influenza of 1918/1920 reduced the world population by about 30 percent. Yes 1/3 of the population died due to that virus. Could this virus do the same? Good question. Would it be beneficial to reduce population? Have no way of knowing.
