So did a favor (never do a favor) for the place I have a contract with. He needed a 2014 day cab he was trading in for a 2019 taken to SLC. I thought what the hell I'll do it for him since he really takes great care of me. I sold my lowboy a year ago so I'll just drive it there. Forgot how bad it is to drive a day cab. So off I go. Get to SLC and grab a Motel, get to the dealer and everything is ready okay this is going to good right. Take off get about halfway to NV and pop thump thump blew a drive tire (new tires fantastic. Road service shows up couple hours later okay let's go. Rolling into Wendover what is that smell hmmmm smells like rubber burning nice. Pull off freeway open hood nice the A/C clutch is coming apart smoking like crazy. Call Mike he calls dealer they will be out in the morning to repair another night in a motel. Truck fixed head out and not 50 miles later pop thump thump JHC another tire Not my week limp on in to Wells. What are the chances that 2 new tires have blowouts within 100 miles. Made it back after that with no more problems but again never do a favor lol. Of course Mike took care of me. TLDR

I asked the manager of a body shop if that would be a good way to get rid of the rust... he called the painter to answer the question... the painter was a Mexican guy who couldn't speak much and couldn't explain why that wouldn't be a good idea.. said that the sand would be going "everywhere".... he didn't seem very interested in doing the job... but was honest... said that would take A LOT of work, it would be around $7000 or more and the rust would come back in a few years cause the condition is way too bad... My gut feeling told me they were not the "right" people for the job...77fib77, tommymonza, Dave_in_AZ and 3 others Thank this.
