Grandpa used to say "Put yer number 10 in it!"... Number 10 refered to ones boot.

Ron White discussing what his dad or grandpa used to say about him.

(in a Texas drawl) “that boys got a lot of quit in him.”

Makes me laugh everytime I hear it.

I know one time, I did wrong, was out after curfew, running around doing things I shouldn’t have been, came home and was going to get whipped, so out the front door I went again.
Was 15-16, but I thought I’d sneak in late.
About 230-300 I creeped back inside, old man sitting in his chair, never said a word.
I went on to bed, I’d just had enough time to think it was all forgotten, about 30 minutes or so.
Didn’t have electricity, but had to keep a blanket to keep mosquitoes from carrying you away.
Anyway, the blanket got thrown back, and the belt was off and I got waylaid.
I don’t know how long this went on, but trying to get up while a belt is coming down in the dark is not an easy task.

I couldn’t get around for a couple of days.
Now that’d be considered child abuse.
Probably lack of air condition would be child abuse let alone a beating.
Different times, but those were the good ole days.

    I’ve also heard it as,
“Not only does that boy got to much quit in him, he ain’t got no start.”

I’m afraid this ‘sand’ is too heavy for that. Smallish bags, stacked on pallets. Only a couple feet high. Loaded a single in front and back. Still lotsa room left in back. A little tricky adjusting tandems. Three times. But it’s ok now.

Teenage friend to me years ago: If you got locked up in jail, would your daddy come get you out?
Reply to teenage friend: If I got locked up in jail, my daddy is the last person I'd want to come get me. The word would be, "Joe; (the old jailer) Unlock that door and let me in there with him"

I was one of 8 kids 5 down 3 up and a Bit Rambunctious

Every night we sat down at the table at 6 for an hour. Minute late and your not eating and what is on the table is what’s for dinner. When dinner is done you bring your dishes up

I always had a place next to my dad and across from my Mother.

Dinner conversation would start out pleasant with no mention from my mother about my Rambunctiousness

Proceed for 20 minutes with everyone digging in with still no mention of Me.

Than my dad would turn to my mom and ask how was Thomas today

Than my dad would inform me that after I brought everyone’s plate up and brought the trash out and fed the dog I was to sit across his lap for my belt whipping

You talk about Mental Torture. All and all it made me a better person even though it was cruel.

I kidded my dad later in life after he apologized to me for doing it and I had my own little Rambunctious boy that needed some discipline.

I told him he only caught me for half the Bad stuff I did.

The old timers had some good sayings, In my house, anyone who lost their temper, drank too much, or acted out in any negative way was “ Cutting a Shine”. Cornbread pancakes were “Ho cakes”, Fast woman, was a “Split Tail”, Arguing was, “Feisting”. Sayings like, “ The devils in every corner”, “ I sure wouldn’t want to be there, doing that, when the end of time comes.” “ He outta be shot”, and my all time favorite, spoken with a twang,by my favorite Uncle, a one time Moonshine Runner,” “Don’t dig the yard, where it shouldn’t be dug.” Classic!!!

Mostly. We were so tired, even The OM sacked out early. And we got a free spot at this TA, that consists mostly of rent a spots.

Reload. Yes. It's waiting. Pre loaded. Pick it up tomorrow with a clean 70.

There was a yuppie trucker couple here pulling a Calistoga with a new kitty.

She said she knows it's very rare to have a cat on a truck.........

Oh look... another Tarp Monkey with his cool guy flashy lights on while he’s parked between trucks for the night. Sheesh.
