What dispatcher at LTL terminal says upon discovering that.... :biggrin_25520:

“Oh, he’s done? Ok, let’s see how I can aggravate him today. This one of my favorites over here has 9 deliveries today and that’s almost too much for that poor driver, so I’ll give so-and-so his 3 pickups that he’s emptying out right around the corner from.

Uh oh... THAT guy’s whining and doesn’t feel like going twenty miles to there, so I’ll just send so-and-so FIFTY miles out of his way to do that one....” :biggrin_25510:

Well.. Since I remember a time they actually taught US history in schools here’s a “Did you know?”

Independence Day Should Have Been July 2 –July 2, 1776 is the day that the Continental Congress actually voted for independence. John Adams, in his writings, even noted that July 2 would be remembered in the annals of American history and would be marked with fireworks and celebrations.

On July 8, 1776, the first public readings of the Declaration were held in Philadelphia's Independence Square to the ringing of bells and band music. One year later, on July 4, 1777, Philadelphia marked Independence Day by adjourning Congress and celebrating with bonfires, bells and fireworks.

The Declaration of Independence included these three major ideas: People have certain Inalienable Rights including Life, Liberty (noun
    1. the state of being free within society from oppressive restrictions imposed by authority on one's way of life, behavior, or political views.)

and Pursuit of Happiness. All Men are created equal. Individuals have a civic duty to defend these rights for themselves and others.

(Yes, I defined Liberty for those who may have not known what the word actually meant, via Mr. Webster.)

Now, I’m not going to take into effect when it was written, 1776, to who actually had rights under this declaration, But simply is stated as follows,

The Fourteenth Amendment to the Constitution (1868, Civil War ended 1865) granted African Americans the rights of citizenship. However, this did not always translate into the ability to vote. Black voters were systematically turned away from state polling places. To combat this problem, Congress passed the Fifteenth Amendment in 1870.

On September 25, 1921, the National Woman's Party announced its plans to campaign for an amendment to the U.S. Constitution to guarantee women equal rights with men.

Here lately, everyone wants to forget our history, and I personally think is wrong.
You can’t erase your history, even though it’s trying to be done.
What happened in our past was a tragedy, but if you forget it, are you not forgetting your countrymen?

Does anyone know of the tragedy of the “Sultana?”
Even considered the worst maritime disaster in US History?

They no longer teach anything in History, my nephew, who is 15, didn’t even know who Francis Scott Key was let alone anyplace called Fort McHenry.

This I believe, is a travesty.

Those who would forget history, are destined to repeat it.

Too many men and women died throughout this great countries history defending Life, Liberty, & Freedom. It makes me sick to see so many standing idlily by while others threaten to erase that history and destroy the very fabric that makes this country so great... God save this country, while it is still worth saving.

As I sit atop this peaceful grassy knoll in South Dakota, I cant help but get a little emotional given what this day represents, and the state of affairs at this current time. I cant help but feel that if everyone in this country could experience this land as I have, indeed as our forefathers did, that they would carry themselves differently.

    Happy Independence Day!!!!!
