“Have you made it to your pickup yet?”
“What do you mean No, you had all night.”
“Oh yeah, you drivers always use that excuse, truck problems, they might have loaded you early.”
“I’m paying you to run that truck, not sleep in it all day.”

I’ve heard them all over the years.

Ummmm... I'm at home. I would have gone and gotten the load last night. I still don't have a pickup number from the boss. hint hint... I'll probably be bugging him for the number when I get to the shipper.

    That’s not an excuse either!
I once picked up a load at LS without a pickup number, pulled in, they asked where I was going, I told them Winter Haven, FloRida.
    they said back to dock.
45 minutes later I was loaded and the “Agent” before I sent loaded, and told me they didn’t have enough product and the load was pushed back 3 days, he had taken me off.

I told him I was loaded, sealed and ready.
He wanted to know how I got loaded without a number he hadn’t given.
I told him being nice, and giving the guy in the forklift a cold soda and oatmeal creme pie.

He put me back on it, I know he was taking me off to give it to a buddy, It paid good, no one wants to go there because you know your going to DH out, which I did, back to Savannah GA

Yes... We've talked before. To be honest. I'd probably be much better off if I had gone with you then. I know the 'flawlesssly' is sarcastic. Got problems. But can deal with it myself. Get it right.
    I'm thinking... seriously.
Yet... I always have in my mind. This world is going right down the toilet. I know... The Bible didn't lie. The Apocalypse has started. I got one foot out the door of this world. That's how I live. Not sure I want to get all wrapped up in a truck as a businessman.

I know my shipper. I know they won't give me a load without that number. Period...
Otherwise.... can get a load anytime, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

I know what you’re saying, but sometimes you gotta take a chance, even if it may be a bad move, no doubt that’s how Chess was invented.

Like I said. I'm thinking seriously.
Right now gotta get going here. Get over to the truck. Get my stuff in. Then get it over to the shop.
