So I had an interesting phone call today.

I called my safety/compliance guy to see if our ELD provider had thier #### in a pile amd was ready for the new HOS changes coming next week. He said that they were. Then we got to chatting about the various changes. When we got to the split berth changes he didnt understand how it would work, but thought my interpretation was also incorrect. So he said he wanted to conference me in on a call with someone from the FMCSA. I said sure.

A few hours later he calls me again with a gentleman from the FMCSA conferenced in so we can all 3 talk together. My compliance guy then asked me to explain my understanding of the new split berth to thus FMCSA fellow. So I do and also provide him with an example that basically hits the pause button on the 14 hr clock for 6 hours in the middle of the day.

The FMCSA fellow said that I was perfectly correct in my understanding of the new rule... My compliance guy was flabbergasted. The FMCSA guy was really nice and very articulate in how he explained things and how he clarified what I was saying to him.

I just thought it was kinda funny that compliance thought they were going to show me... But it turned out the other way... Lol

But why would you have anything other than a cursory knowledge of how this rule would work? I mean it's just your livelihood.

I like SVR. I also like the blues in general, especially the old stuff. I couldn't tell anyone a thing about today's blues. One of the stations on my music service is Blues Classics. They cover a lot of eras of the blues.

There ARE dunes there normally. But like I said...any decent storm washes out the road an dunes down that way. Joys of being a sandbar/barrier island. Things change constantly, and we don't get official Island status.

Hence the bridges over the areas that get wiped out the most.

I'll have to see if I can get a pic of the new one. Second one won't be done til next year I think they said.

My section of the Atlantic isn't called the graveyard for giggles. It's rough, and has no mercy. Ships or roads...the ocean goes where she wants. First rule of living on a sandbar. Second is..sand gets everywhere.

....I just call him D. Every now an then I'll give him a name...for example today he is Devon. I"m thinking tomorrow he'll be a Dale, or a Duke. I have no clue what the D stands for and don't want to know. Takes all the fun away.

I got a serious question...

With the rise of self-driving vehicles, is it only a matter of time before we get a country song where a guy’s truck leaves him too?

I listen to it as much as most people listen to modern pop music.
