Ice storms are caused by freezing tain. The raindrops move into a thin layer of below-freezing air right near the surface of the earth, allowing them to freeze on contact to the ground, trees, cars and other objects. Ice accumulates when super-cold tain freezes on contact with surfaces that are below freezing point.

61 degrees in Indy with a pleasant breeze from the south.
Helwig next door needs his bunk heater. Polluting the air with diesel fumes.

    Johnny Lang.....I love that song.
My wife likes to tell me white lies from time to time....maybe once a year.
I make her listen to that when she does.

That said, it's a total rip off of Joe ####er Unchain My Heart.
    Don't believe me?
    Listen to it

So, what I hear you saying is that there's an upside to almost every downside?
    That's what I'm hearing anyway

Close Larry. FR & FF is super cooled moisture that is in liquid form until it hits an object. Then the friction from the impact raises the temperature of said moisture and it freezes. The opposite of Sublimation, FF to ice.
