We raised broilers in the 50's for a while, 600 at a batch. Lights on 24 hours a day so they will eat 24 hrs a day. Rural electric system, storm, power out right before midnight. We worked hard, went to bed early did not know. Next morning, 600 dead chickens. For some reason they had hovered and stacked and smothered each other around the 3 brooder units. Used pitchforks to remove them. That is why I do not LIKe chicken. Will eat it as your house to be nice, at the church suppers, or the "rubber chicken" award things for vets.
But if ole ish is ordering in a restaurant, it something else.LoSt_AgAiN, spindrift, Dale thompson and 4 others Thank this. -
This is/has been a learning experience for me... I'm 85, and now sure as hell will not start on repairing a MF tractor. To much of a wrenching curve in the brand. Ya know? An old "A" John Deere; when the sleeves and pistons get worn whop sided from the 2 cylinders hanging down... Just jerk the head, undo the rod caps, twist half over and back to work in the morning. Pity Pat
right off wearing the other side.LoSt_AgAiN, spindrift, Dale thompson and 4 others Thank this. -

My Uncle bought an old chicken farm. Had an attached chicken coop. Now it’s their master bedroom. He put a lot of work into the whole place. It’s pretty nice now. Looks like a new house.LoSt_AgAiN, Dale thompson, lovesthedrive and 3 others Thank this.

Been to several Pilgrims Pride/ConAgra/Tyson/Peco/Simmons Feeds and Mid South Milling(feather mill hauled in and after they unload and add preserves then reload out)
MSM sucks, load might be ready, could take all day or night, nobody will tell you how long, because they are afraid you will leave.
Nastiest place is Simmons in Montgomery City Mo, flies, blood/water mix all over you walk through to the check in window over chopped feathers in the air and on the concrete.
Takes days to get smell out of truck.LoSt_AgAiN, Dale thompson, Speed_Drums and 5 others Thank this. -
This is a new account for Stevens and they obviously didn't have things straight on this load. Said 0100-0900 available time for it. Checked in this morning. Girl is like it won't be till this afternoon. Well 1730 and I am still sitting, bobtail. It's a drop and hook. But the "hook" is still empty. lol The original delivery apt was 1100 on the 21st in MO 1k away. They've already changed that to 1500.

Why did they change the appointment?
Kinda a waste, they should wait til it’s loaded to get a good estimate, not keep changing, because when you get to the receiver, they will know nothing of a time change anyway and will still say you’re lateSoulScream84, LoSt_AgAiN, Dale thompson and 4 others Thank this. -
New Condos in an upscale area, near here, right on a small river. Every morning paper recycling plant goes out and turns the Pile paper with a front end loader. Smell is awful. They sued and lost. Paper plant was there first. Same thing happens, when they build a new sub on farmland. Spring fertilizing season. Surprise!! Just have to live with it.
