What if you jump the plug, with a paper clip? Should turn the light off.

I tested it with a paperclip and with out. I got a check engine light both times. I didn't get the stop engine light. But I wonder if I did it wrong with the paper clip after Dave's comnent.

You're going to Mount Vernon. And don't go via Memphis unless you enjoy pain.
    Wait. Nevermind.

Use a piece of wire. It has to stay in there all the time. The circuit having continuity all the time = normally closed.

If it’s a freightliner, the temp sensor is a variable resistance type. Jumping it with a straight wire will do nothing, you need to have a resistor in it.

I put a paperclip in it, walked the dog for 20 minutes. Still running with a check engine light. With or without it still runs. But plug it into the sensor and red stop engine light in 3 minutes. Tomorrow I'll try real wire.

Any way other than I 55?

Yes. And if you're going for less than 2800 you're driving down the rate.
