I noticed the dude next to me had the venerable paccar motor.

    So I asked.

He said they have 15 of them, all under 400K miles, and it's the hugest pos ever put on the earth.

Constantly in the shop for sensor / computer / software issues.

Said his company is replacing them all with Cummins.

    Just sayin.

Experience so far with this rental has been.... MEH,

It just does not have the torque to do the job the way I like. If I go for the new truck it will Have a Cummins.

I have started to laugh when the Tire Pressure warnings go off about every other week with an "OMG THE TRUCK IS GOING TO CRASH" type warning on the dash. May just be the precursor to other sensors failing.

Then they can eventually replace all the Cummins with Detroit’s. The only way to go.

I dunno. I really liked my Cummins. This Detroit is weird. Cummins still seemed like an engine.

I really don’t know, just what I hear. That’s always biased info. I notice The Cummins is very quiet. I’d like that. But EGR cooler and injectors especially are always a problem. I don’t know what’s up with their injectors. Always been a problem, they’ve claimed since the 90s that it’s fixed. All Chinese Parts.

This 455 smart torque Cummins will out pull and out perform that DD15 art at 470.
But it only gets 6- 6.25 mpg depending if you keep your foot in it.
But for a Cummins that’s good to me, the old N14 435 I had got 5.5 empty or loaded.
