Be sure to check the oil level, a few times after running a bit. Stop, give it a while to drain level. Usually have to add some hub oil. Then check it after being parked for the night, to get the exact level.

Never signed a waiver, not surprised though. I’ve seen it happen on a weekend. The race was spinning in the aluminum hub on a W9 steer. Guy had to wait till Monday to get a new hub. I always ask, at any shop. I tell them, I need to roll, don’t take it apart, if you can’t put it together. That applies to a lot of things. I often have new parts onboard, for a while before using them. Most recently new bearings and seal for front Steer. Replaced one last year, other recently when it started leaking. Had both done just a few yrs back. Left bearing started coming apart, after about 18 mos. it was too tight. Hubs were buggered up, from Idiot bearing the races in. I had to grind the bad spots smooth. Very aggravating. Now it’s all good. Next time, I’ll buy new bearing set/ with hub. Worth it, as the races are already installed. Some Shops won’t even install new races on an aluminum hub. Check that hub for heat against the other. A bit warmer at first is OK. Should go away, after a couple thousand miles. If not, it’s too tight. Too tight will burn up. Too lose will run a long time, eventually wearing the bearings on one side. Usually causes a seal to leak long before the bearing fails. They’ll run a long time too lose. Saying is, a million miles loose, won’t make it far too tight. Had one go bad after a month. Ruined the steer spindle. That’s why I bought the Torque wrenches, and do them myself anymore if possible. There’s a right way, and a half dozen wrong ways. Everyone has “ their way” . They say “ Never had one come back”. Yeah I know, because the Trucks 1000 miles away when it happens. Lol.

Thanks for the info i will keep an eye on it with my temp gun. I noticed the breather tube is filled with dirt as well, wonder if that contributed to my leaking seal, running on the dusty quarry roads

Any dirt or off-road work. I’ve been told by the Dump Truck Owners, and Loggers, that seals, u joints, any moving part only lasts about half as long as Road Truck.

I’d say someone opened the gates to quick, might want to change air filters, they could be clogged, especially if truck was running when it happened, i figure it was
