50% of the gross goes to truck, fuel, insurance, e.t.c. 30% goes to driver and 20% to the company. So from $20000 monthly gross, $10000 to truck, $6000 to driver and $4000 to company. That's a rough example and sometimes things are out of control, but that's what I usually try to do

No wonder truckers go out of business so often, they would rather spend their own money to deadhead. It is NOT always about what that one load pays, it is about the return of my investment that is important. And that run just put $350 in my pocket that before was an unneeded expense. $350 per week times 40 weeks is $14,000 a year in my pocket, that otherwise I would not have had.Lone Ranger 13 and Dave_in_AZ Thank this. -

Another reason to never pull dirt cheap loads: Every time a broker or shipper moves a load for dirt cheap it sends the message that their rate is acceptable.

So many people get hung up over what 1 load pays, and loose sight of the forest for the tree right in front of them.
What is cheap for you, is profitable for someone else.
I don't need or want your help, as it is obvious to me that you do not understand business economics, or that reducing expenses increases profit. -
