I did hopper for a season in Ky. 8 yrs after I retired. A neighbor farmer who had acres of corn asked me to run one his trucks and I had "retired" my CDL. I Didn't need a CDL because of agriculture. Fun job, just loaded from the fields, drove 20 mi to the silos, unloaded and returned. 8 hrs aday M-F Never even got out of the truck, The silo grunts unchained

Prime and JB both had/have hoppers. They come in, cut the rates, then they can't service the account. I've been told by people at our accounts their drivers have absolutely no clue what they are doing. At least they are consistent, no matter what trailer they pull, they do it cheap, and are clueless.

There are 2 fleet companies that I know of up this way that do it, Foltz and F-M Transport. Foltz owns them.
Buccheit out of Scott City, MO runs a hopper fleet.

Neatest trip I ever did with a hopper was apples out of WA going to Ludington MI and I took the boat across from Wisconsin.

I know of some small to medium fleets that pull hoppers... N. Lott Trucking, Doug Andrus, amd a few others. I love pulling hopper trains, easy work home every few days or more often even.

Heres a 9 axle setup I ran for awhile... Could legally gross 145k
