Not sure if anyone has asked - but can I hazard a guess?

    You’re a 45-55 year old female?

Single, with children, seeking a different career path?

You’re at the perfect age and perfect time in life to get a CDL. You’ll rot away at Amazon doing repetitious work all day long. Go get a CDL. It will be tough, the first couple years won’t be that great, but once you get experience you can find a job doing about whatever kind of hours you want for a decent wage.

You’re young enough, something like LTL night appeal to you or you could run locally for someone and be home every night. I’m 30 years old just like you with a wife and 2 year old daughter and I run locally with my own truck hauling wood chips. I work when I want how I want and take off as much or whenever I want (until I go broke). It’s not all roses but I wouldn’t trade it for any day job i know of.

Get your CDL and be frugal for a month or two. There’s cdl companies that pay while you’re in their training, but that of course comes with a contract.

If you have a job offer from amazon. you may as well take it, if they lay you off after the xmas rush and you will have saved enough $ to pay for part of a state comm. Coll. driver training class?

They won't lay may off for this job. It is a permanent job.

My nephew worked at an Amazon warehouse for a while. It sounds like a terrible job. Quotas, others passing the buck, and a system that goes in circles. Not a good long term choice, IMO. Always hiring.

You need to have lots of money in the bank if you are going trucking. If you don't, take the Amazon job. You may hate trucking after a while. Make money right now while you can. You need 3 months income in the bank to be safe. Another $2000 for an emergency fund. Even if you love it they may not love you. You can be fired for a number of reasons. Most of these companies aren't like a Fortune 500. They don't give a verbal warning and two written warnings. Trucking jobs will still be around in 6 months. Make sure you are covered.

As a newbie trucker I can make enough money to pay my bills. I can afford to say no to Amazon. I have 6 months expenses saved up. I can afford to not work Mon-Fri during truck training. I will burn some money from my savings, and also deliver food Fri-Sun.
