Some times you gotta make do to get to the yard. Some times non factory fixes are safe. But what do I know

Never hurts to carry a ratchet strap. Good for many things.

I have seen this used in an emergency many times on the road for this exact problem.

I'd have donated him a cruddy 2" ratchet and helped him get it in place.

Be the shepherd - if you are able.

When i was a yard dog, i encountered one of our “3rd party logistics company that shall not be named” drivers sitting in the yard and messing around on her catwalk, looking all flustered. I pulled up to see if i could help... turns out her air line hanger had broken and her lines/cord were dragging on the catwalk. I grabbed a bungee and hooked the lines up in a very half-assed fashion (all i had at my disposal was the one bungee), thinking it would be good enough to get her across the yard to drop her trailer, and then over to her parking spot to get it fixed.

She drove it like that for weeks.

That's the hard part of being your brothers' keeper -

Me and another hand stopped for coffee in Perryton after unloading around 1am and seen he had a broken tank strap. Threw a 2” strap on it and took it 150 miles to the yard.

Shoot I’ve driven my KW to the yard not once but twice with a drive axle held in with a chain and boomer after the old AG200 suspension broke.

You do what you gotta do to get the job done.

You might have seen me. I've used a 2 inch strap to hold up one end of a peterbilt tank. It wasn't just a quick fix to go a short distance.

This is just one reason to have 4 shut off valves on your fuel tanks. I isolated that tank ran it out of fuel, then worked with only one tank until I made it back home. That way I fixed it at home when it was convenient and not on the road.

2 inch ratchet strap with the flat hooks. Works perfectly when hooking to the frame. Hook to the bottom of the frame, around the tank to the top of the frame, ratchet it down tight. The tank won’t go anywhere. Boogity boogity.
