Rates dropped right after first of year. Happens every year but this year it has been the worse in a while. Last year rates dropped but they picked back up quickly. Hang in there guys.

Yes, I was very emotional because in my view, the truck business community by large is very susceptible to all kinds of claims that would allow them to feel victimized by all kinds of injustices. It is easy for them then to point fingers and say "It is all because of them!" The impression I had after reading your first post was that an Eastern Euro buys a White Volvo because he got a governmental grant, otherwise he could not afford it, then he drives it for a few years and dumps it without paying back the loan and goes back home all happy with a load of money, disrupting in the process the freight spot market and hurting everybody. This, in my view, can instill a huge amount of animosity which there already is. Animosity, which I have to shamefully admit, to some extent can be justified in such aspects as work ethics, law abidance, disrespect to established cultural norms. Well, if that was not your intention - to add fuel to the fire - then I apologize too. You see, I don't believe and am certain that the grants listed in that link you found, are not accessible to class A truck buyers, and even if they are, they cannot be significant enough to impact the freight market and the low rates. If I am wrong, shame on me and shame on those who take those grants.

Fuel in Phoenix at the Peelot was $2.54.

Same as the communist state right?

You can almost always take the Arizona price and add a dollar and that is roughly the price in Cali. Add a bunch of people taking breaks on the fuel island because there isn’t enough parking in Cali and you have a great reason to have the tanks full when you cross the border.

I’m sorry if you feel I offended you.

I just dropped a load here in Victorville, CA. Tonight after my 10, I will be picking a load up that is being loaded now, headed to Chicago area.

It's supposed to be only 15k lbs. I do not see any weather warnings for i70 through Vail right now. Thinking about going that way.

Will look at it again before I get to i15 and i70, and if it still looks clear I'll probably go that way.

I dont much care for going through Wyoming on i80 with only 15k in the box.

By Thursday night, the storm that is hammering NorCal right now will be over Colorado. I wouldn't take the I-70.You're already in Southern CA, just jump over to the I-40 and head to OKC, then take the I-44 to St Louis and the I-55 right into Chicago. You'll at least stay ahead of the weather that way and it's only a little longer.

I stay away from I-70 west of Denver, tough climb for trucks, got hypoxia symptoms just walking few min at 11,000 ft elevation @ Eisenhower Tunnel and motor gets hot in thin air, wild winds also. I-40 is 100-150 miles longer than I-80 but safer this time of the year, less mountains, better mpg.

It's dark, can't see very well on this traffic cams , but looks like snow covered roads in Vail.

I have been watching the weather and advisories, and decided to roll the northern route. I-15 to Provo, then US189 to I80.

I am in Coalville, UT currently, and will be rolling at around 11PM local, heading East on 80. The worst of the wind advisories are supposed to be ending tomorrow AM, at roughly the time when I will be entering their area.

I do not much care for 80 when I am this light, but I dont much care for i70 through Colorado either, and the i40 route adds a significant number of miles over the i80 route, a few small tolls, and is roughly as fuel efficient.

*shrug* if I hit serious wind, I will have to shut down for a while. This load has plenty of time on it, so I'll make it work one way or the other.

    Sounds like a plan.
