Definetely get a XL wheelbased,Kenworth, with a chopped roof,18 speed and exhaust stacks that block your view....Just Kidding.I Cant really "justify" ,recommending buying a truck for new driver, however,if you have a "large bankroll",and determined you wont quit...Id get something quiet, handles well and gets better mileage than most.Maybe a "dreaded" Volvo?
What truck do you recommend for a new Owner Operator who just got their CDL?

A w9 or 389, for the sole reason they are much easier to sell quickly when you realize you don't know what you're doing after maybe 1 year or so. They cost maybe 10 grand more than any of that aero plastic crap, but depreciate much slower. Hood for 160 1 year sell for 130, plastic buy for 150 sell 1 year later for 90. I guess you may have saved a nickel a mile in fuel though.

What's your budget?
What do you intend to haul and where?
OTR or local?jsnell Thanks this. -
There is no right answer. If there was, there would only be one truck manufacturer.
bryan21384, TruckRunner and jsnell Thank this. -
The one owned by a company. A fresh CDL is not the time to by a truck... Go get 250k miles under your belt and learn the business alittle more before you jump into the fire. Just my $.02

U guys jumping to conclusions, I never said I would necessarily be driving the thing. My experience of just getting my cdl was to reveal the fact that I haven’t driven anything other then an international and wouldn’t know which trucks are preferred. So again, any suggestions

If you buy a truck and are looking for a truck driver, buy a 389 or a w900l.
If you buy a truck and are looking for any seat meat that will drive it, buy whichever aerodynamic gutless wonder you think gets 1/10th better mpg than the others.
I'll just lob that out there..... hehehehehe
