There are certain tools people (without guns) don't argue with, a machete is one, an axe is another but a chain wrench seems to make people think twice.
This said, I think common sense and knowing what is worth fighting for is an absolute necessity, and usually the only tool necessary to avoid confrontation.

In TN, you're perfectly fine carrying a firearm if you have a permit.
Personally, I wouldn't care if company policy said I couldn't. Just keep it out of sight. What's the worst they could do? Fire you if you ward off a attacker? I'll take those chances. -
