If you were looking to update your truck what would it be?
    I presently have a 2009 prostar, I pull a flatbed.
My prostar is to heavy, and only gets 5.5 mpg. It also has 788k and I don't want to rebuild the motor, I would rather get into another truck.
Looking for double bunk, light weight, aerodynamic, and best fuel millage..not new..

Me personally I would go backwards to pre eld.. I don't think u will do much better with an aero truck pulling open deck... Ive run cascadia - t680 - Pete 386 - none of them did better than 6.5 mpg running flat/step...

    1994 - 1999,

Even my big old bus gets 6.2 lifetime - open deck. 1995 12.7 120" similar to @Old Man

F California, ELD or paper don't matter,

I've just seen far too many horror stories with new stuff to recommend going new. Unless you're in a STRONG position to do so.

@Jubal Early Times took the plunge and has thrived. What does he say?

Buy brand new or pre emission. I’m not a big fan of used emission motors. Brand new they are good and give little problems. Used is just a crap shoot. All depends on the previous owner.

ETA: I think Detroit has the emissions figured out.

More power seems to get better economy. I got 7 in the last truck pulling 100k. It was the isx15 I think it was. 2012. 18sp.

    I'm driving a 2018 mx13 auto now. It struggles to hit 5.

I don't know how anyone gets better economy in a auto. This is my second one and I'm not seeing it.
